USV Assembly
Preparation Before Assembly
Before assembling the USV, verify that:
- All components listed in the package contents are present and undamaged
- The battery is sufficiently charged
- The survey area is accessible and the water conditions are suitable for deployment
- The SD card is inserted in the echo sounder
Assembly Steps
Step 1 — Install the 2.4 GHz RF Antennas
- Locate the two RF antenna connectors on the USV hull.
- Thread the 2.4 GHz omnidirectional antennas onto the connectors and tighten finger-tight.
- Ensure both antennas are upright and not bent or obstructed.
warning
Do not operate the USV without the RF antennas installed. Operating without antennas will severely limit control range and may result in loss of the vessel.
Step 2 — Install the Battery
- Open the battery compartment cover on the USV.
- Insert the battery into the compartment, observing polarity markings.
- Connect the XT90S battery connector to the USV battery port.
- Close and secure the battery compartment cover.
caution
Ensure the XT90S connector is fully seated. A loose connection may cause power interruption during the survey.
Step 3 — Install the GNSS Receiver
- Attach the quick release adapter to the GNSS receiver mount on the USV.
- Slide the LUKA-TAP GNSS receiver onto the quick release adapter until it clicks into place.
- Connect the serial cable between the GNSS receiver and the USV serial port (labelled "Oscar/LUKA").
- Route the cable so it does not foul the propellers.
Step 4 — Install the Propellers
- Take the propeller plugs and verify the correct propeller for each side (left/right are marked).
- Insert the propeller plugs into the propeller shafts and secure.
- Confirm the propellers spin freely without obstruction.
warning
Always install the propeller plugs before placing the USV in water. Remove the plugs before transport to prevent damage.
